3. Eligibility
To be eligible, an entrant must:
- Be a legal resident of Pennsylvania or New Jersey;
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of entry;
- Reside at a single-family residential property located within Sponsor's service area (Bucks County, Montgomery County, Philadelphia, and portions of Delaware County, PA, and Mercer and Burlington Counties, NJ). Sponsor determines service-area eligibility in its sole discretion;
- Own the property at which the entered equipment is installed, or, if renting, have the property owner accept any prize on the entrant's behalf. Prizes involving installed equipment can only be awarded with the property owner's written authorization.
The Promotion is void in any jurisdiction where prohibited or restricted by law. Commercial properties, new construction, multi-family buildings of more than four units, and mobile homes are not eligible.
4. How to enter
No purchase is necessary to enter or win. During the Promotion Period, complete the entry form at the Promotion website, or enter by telephone at 215-245-3200 during office hours, or by mailing the required information to the Sponsor address in Section 1. All methods of entry are free and are weighted equally in judging.
A complete entry includes:
- Entrant's full name, street address, town, ZIP code, mobile telephone number, and email address;
- Confirmation of homeowner status;
- The approximate age of the air conditioning equipment;
- A description of the equipment's condition or problems (selected from the list provided);
- A photograph of the equipment nameplate or data plate, where the entrant is able to safely obtain one. A nameplate photograph is strongly encouraged but is not required to enter. Entrants unable to provide one may note this in their written statement, and a technician may capture it during the entrant's tune-up visit;
- A written statement of at least 140 characters explaining why the entrant should receive new equipment.
Sponsor may send a one-time confirmation text message to the mobile number provided in order to verify the entry. Entries that cannot be verified may be disqualified. Message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to opt out of further messages.
Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Incomplete, illegible, fraudulent, or automated entries are void.
5. Entry limits
One entry per household and one air conditioning system per entry. An entrant who owns more than one eligible property within the service area may submit one entry per property. Duplicate entries from the same household, telephone number, or email address will be consolidated into a single entry, and only the first will be judged.
6. Categories
Entries are assigned by Sponsor to one or more of the following seven categories based on the information the entrant provides. Entrants do not select their own category, and Sponsor's category assignment is final.
| Category | Basis |
|---|---|
| The Fossil | Greatest confirmed equipment age |
| The Frankenstein | Repair history, mismatched or improvised components |
| The Eyesore | Physical condition and appearance |
| The Screamer | Operating noise |
| The Upstairs Sauna | Room-to-room temperature differential |
| The Money Pit | Operating cost or cumulative repair spend |
| The Wildcard | Judges' discretion, including originality of the written statement |
7. Judging criteria
This Promotion is a skill-based contest. Winners are determined on merit by a panel of three judges designated by Sponsor, not by random drawing. All eligible entries are scored against the following published criteria:
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Condition and severity of the equipment | 40% |
| Quality and originality of the written statement | 30% |
| Documentation provided (nameplate and photographs) | 20% |
| Fan engagement during the bracket rounds | 10% |
Two finalists are advanced from each of the seven categories, plus two additional entries selected at the judges' discretion, to form a field of sixteen. In the event of a scoring tie at any stage, the tie is broken by the score for condition and severity, then by the score for the written statement. The judges' decisions are final and binding in all respects.
8. Bracket rounds and fan voting
Beginning August 31, 2026, the field of sixteen will be presented in head-to-head matchups on Sponsor's Facebook and Instagram pages. Members of the public may express a preference by reacting to or commenting on those posts.
Fan engagement is one scoring input and is not determinative. It accounts for no more than 10% of an entry's total score. No purchase, share, tag, or account follow is required to participate in or benefit from fan engagement. Sponsor may disregard engagement it reasonably believes to be inauthentic, purchased, automated, or coordinated.
9. Prizes
| Prize | Description | Approx. retail value |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Prize (1) | One new Trane outdoor condensing unit and one matched indoor evaporator coil, together with standard professional installation by ECI Comfort, at no cost to the winner. See Section 10 for scope. | $9,500 |
| Second Place (1) | One matching Trane furnace or air handler (equipment) at no cost, plus ECI's 10-year labor warranty, awarded with the winner's purchase and installation of a condenser and coil. | $4,500 |
| Third Place (1) | ECI Complete Comfort package at no cost — smart thermostat, whole-house media air cleaner, and UV light — plus ECI's 10-year labor warranty, awarded with the winner's purchase of a system. | $2,800 |
| Category Champions (7) | One winner per category receives a two-year ECI maintenance agreement at no cost plus a smart thermostat, awarded with the winner's purchase of a system. | $1,200 each |
| All entrants | A $500 Comfort Madness Credit toward a complete system replacement, plus one free 22-point precision tune-up. See Section 11. | $700 |
Approximate retail values are Sponsor's good-faith estimates and may vary based on equipment availability, home configuration, and market conditions. Second place, third place, and category prizes are awarded in connection with a qualifying purchase and have no cash value if the winner does not proceed with a purchase. The Grand Prize requires no purchase of any kind.
Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised equipment becomes unavailable. Total approximate retail value of all prizes, excluding entrant credits: $25,200.
10. Grand prize scope and equipment compatibility
What the Grand Prize includes: the outdoor condensing unit, the matched indoor evaporator coil, standard installation labor, a new line set where required, a new equipment pad, a new condensate management provision where required, refrigerant charge, permits, and startup and commissioning.
What the Grand Prize does not include: a furnace, air handler, or heat pump; ductwork repair, replacement, resizing, or sealing; electrical service or panel upgrades beyond the equipment disconnect; asbestos or hazardous material abatement; structural, carpentry, drywall, or masonry work; zoning systems; indoor air quality accessories; and any work required by code or site condition that is outside the scope described above. Any such work, if needed, will be quoted separately, and the winner may accept or decline it.
Compatibility determination. The Grand Prize is designed to reuse the winner's existing furnace or air handler. Sponsor will inspect the existing equipment before installation and will determine, in its sole discretion and consistent with manufacturer specifications and applicable code, whether it can be safely and properly matched to the new condenser and coil. Reasons it may not include insufficient blower capacity or airflow, incompatible cabinet dimensions, refrigerant or metering-device incompatibility, a failed or near-end-of-life heat exchanger, or an unsafe existing installation.
If Sponsor determines that the existing furnace or air handler cannot be reused, Sponsor will inform the winner in writing before any work begins, and the winner may (a) purchase the matching furnace or air handler at Sponsor's documented equipment cost with installation labor included at no additional charge, (b) accept a substitute prize of comparable value at Sponsor's discretion, or (c) decline the prize without penalty. Sponsor will not install new equipment in a configuration it considers unsafe or non-compliant.
Installation will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time, generally within 60 days of prize acceptance, subject to equipment availability and permit timelines. The winner must provide safe and lawful access to the property and to the equipment locations.
11. Entrant credit and tune-up
Every eligible entrant receives, by email, both of the following:
- A $500 Comfort Madness Credit. Applies to the purchase of a complete replacement air conditioning or heating system installed by ECI Comfort. One credit per household. Homeowners only. Non-transferable, no cash value, and may not be combined with any other discount, coupon, rebate-matching offer, or promotional financing program. Must be redeemed against a signed agreement dated on or before September 30, 2026. Not valid on repairs, parts, maintenance agreements, or work already under contract at the time of entry.
- One free 22-point precision tune-up on the entered equipment, performed by an ECI technician, with no obligation to purchase anything. Must be scheduled on or before September 30, 2026. Subject to technician availability and safe access. If the equipment is found to be inoperable or unsafe, the technician will document the condition; diagnostic and repair work beyond the tune-up is quoted separately.
12. Winner notification and verification
Potential winners will be notified by telephone and email using the contact information provided at entry, beginning on or about September 8, 2026. A potential winner must respond within five business days of first notification attempt. Failure to respond, inability to verify eligibility, or return of notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.
As a condition of receiving any prize, a potential winner may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release, a publicity release where lawful, an IRS Form W-9, and, if applicable, written property-owner authorization. Sponsor may verify the existence, age, and condition of the entered equipment by site inspection. Material misrepresentation of equipment age or condition is grounds for disqualification.
13. Taxes
All federal, state, and local taxes on any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. The fair market value of a prize is taxable income to the recipient. Where the aggregate value of prizes awarded to a recipient in the calendar year meets or exceeds the applicable IRS reporting threshold, a Form 1099-MISC will be issued to the recipient and filed with the Internal Revenue Service by Sponsor or by the prize provider. Winners will be required to furnish a completed Form W-9 before a prize is awarded. Winners are encouraged to consult their own tax advisor. Sponsor does not provide tax advice.
14. Publicity and privacy
Sponsor may publish the first name and town of finalists and winners. Sponsor will not publish an entrant's full street address, telephone number, or email address.
Use of an entrant's photographs, written statement, likeness, or voice in Sponsor's advertising and social media is optional and requires the entrant's affirmative consent at the time of entry. Entrants who do not consent remain fully eligible and are presented anonymously if they advance. Entrants may withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@ecicomfort.com; Sponsor will remove the material from channels it controls within a reasonable period, though it cannot recall material already distributed by third parties.
Information collected is used to administer the Promotion, deliver the credit and tune-up, and communicate with entrants about ECI's products and services. Sponsor does not sell entrant information. Entrants may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
15. Employees, technicians, and referrals
Employees, officers, and directors of Sponsor and of Trane, and their immediate family members and members of their households, are not eligible to win any prize.
ECI technicians and comfort advisors may inform customers about the Promotion and may assist a customer in completing an entry at the customer's request. Sponsor may pay its employees an internal incentive for verified entries. An entry submitted or assisted by an ECI employee must be verified directly with the customer from the customer's own telephone number, and no entry may be submitted without the customer's knowledge and consent. Entries found to have been submitted without genuine customer consent will be voided and are grounds for internal discipline. Employee assistance provides no scoring advantage of any kind.
16. Conduct, disqualification, and disputes
Sponsor may disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, submits false or misleading information, uses automated means to enter, submits content that infringes third-party rights, or acts abusively toward Sponsor's staff, other entrants, or the public.
Entrants agree that submitted photographs and written statements are their own original content and do not infringe the rights of any third party. Entrants must not photograph or describe another person's property without permission, and must not enter locations that are unsafe. Do not climb, open, disassemble, or energize equipment to photograph it. Photograph only what is visible and safely accessible.
If the Promotion cannot be conducted as planned because of fraud, technical failure, force majeure, supply disruption, or any other cause outside Sponsor's reasonable control, Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Promotion and to award prizes from among eligible entries received to that point.
17. Limitation of liability
By entering, each entrant releases Sponsor, Trane, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents, and employees from any liability for loss, harm, injury, or damage arising out of participation in the Promotion or the acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize, except where such limitation is prohibited by law. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, garbled, or incomplete entries, or for technical failures of any kind. Nothing in these Rules limits Sponsor's obligations under any warranty applicable to equipment it installs, or any rights an entrant has under the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.
18. Social media platforms
This Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta Platforms, Inc., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, or any other platform. Entrants release those platforms from all liability arising from this Promotion. Any questions, comments, or complaints regarding the Promotion must be directed to Sponsor, not to any platform. No platform account is required to enter or to win.
19. Governing law
These Official Rules and the Promotion are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and entrants consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. Pennsylvania does not require registration or bonding for promotions of this type; this Promotion is structured as a skill-based contest and is not a lottery, raffle, or game of chance.
20. Winners list
The first names and towns of winners will be published at the Promotion website and on Sponsor's social media pages on or about September 8, 2026, and will remain available for at least 90 days. A written winners list is also available at no cost by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Comfort Madness 2 Winners List, ECI Comfort, 1115 W Gillam Ave, Langhorne, PA 19047, postmarked by December 31, 2026.
