Our long-time homeowners love their Levittown home but hate when it starts to get warm out. It’s a multi-day process of pulling out stored, heavy air conditioner units and trying to make them fit inside their windows. They had enough of listening to the loud and noisy air for hours before the house cooled down. And after one of the hottest summers, Tom and Jodi were ready to explore options to enhance their HVAC system.

They came across ECI and were pleasantly surprised with the information they were reading. After a consultation, they decided to go forth and have Mitsubishi Electric ductless air handlers installed throughout their two-story home. They couldn't believe that an HVAC system could be so quiet…they had to give it a chance! ECI suggested they install two outdoor heat pumps along with four indoor air handlers to handle the different zones across their home.
The Install
How ductless systems work
Mitsubishi Electric Heating and Cooling Systems maximize your comfort year-round. Controlled by a user-friendly remote, the indoor ductless units use refrigerant to cool or heat air and quietly push the tempered air where you need it. The lines connect to the outdoor unit through a three-inch opening in the exterior wall. Then, the outdoor heat pump cools or warms refrigerant and sends it back inside to the air handler which always monitors the room for changes in temperature.
These units are perfect for additions, basements, or any room that faces difficulty being comfortable. It also works well if you want multiple zones covered in your home.
Customizing the air handlers
ECI installed two high-wall units in two of the bedrooms, one low-wall unit, and a Mitsubishi SEZ ducted air handler which is concealed in the wall for their smaller rooms such as the den, living room, and master bedroom. 
In their family room (which is an addition), they installed an i-See Sensor high-wall unit. One of the many popular types of Mitsubishi Electric's ductless air handlers, this specific unit will divide the space into 3D zones, scan the interior space for uneven temperatures, and deliver the desired temperature throughout the room. Tom and Jodi are so glad to be out with the old, noisy, and ugly window AC units and start saving money while living in better conditions during the summertime. They are loving the quiet, efficient system that they found with the help of ECI Comfort.
Supplementing Oil Heat with Electric
Not only will they enjoy the new air conditioning, but they'll also be able to save money and energy when it comes to heating. The heat pump system can provide supplemental heat in mild weather when it's not quite cold enough to use the oil heater. Then, when temperatures drop, they can switch over to oil. This will allow our customers to use less fossil fuels and save money on energy bills overall. Heat pumps can even fully replace traditional heating systems, but our customers opted for the hybrid -- both of which are great options.
