Zoned Hybrid Heating and Cooling Brings Room-by-Room Comfort to a Chestnut Hill Home

PROBLEM: An older Chestnut Hill home had a 5–10°F temperature difference between the first and second floors. Cooling the upstairs at night meant making the first floor uncomfortably cold, and the home's approximately 80% efficient furnace no longer aligned with his comfort or energy-efficiency goals.

SOLUTION: A two-zone hybrid heating and cooling system paired a fully modulating Ruud RD18 heat pump with a 96% efficient, two-stage variable-speed Ruud furnace. New ductwork and independent controls for each floor gave the home more precise comfort, improved humidity control, quieter operation, and less reliance on fossil-fuel heating.

Historic Philadelphia Home Heating & Cooling with a Unico High-Velocity HVAC System

PROBLEM: Eliza relied on window air conditioning units to stay comfortable during the summer months. However, they were inefficient, noisy, and unable to provide consistent, whole-home comfort.

SOLUTION: Having worked with ECI in the past, Eliza reached out to our owner, Ron, whom she had trusted on previous projects. Ron sent our project manager Matt to assess her home and finalize the heating and cooling system she had always wanted. Today, Eliza enjoys a quiet, energy-efficient system that keeps the areas she uses most at the perfect temperature—providing reliable, year-round comfort that her old window units never could.
