UNC Versus Kansas: Who Will Win the Championship Title?

After a crazy couple of weeks, we have made it to the final game of our March Sadness competition / the NCAA March Madness tournament! On Saturday, No. 8 UNC pulled out a win against No. 2 Duke, and No. 1 Kansas beat No. 2 Villanova.

Tonight, UNC will represent Team Waiting For The Roof To Cave In and Kansas will represent Team Love Not War in the Championship game. Two teams will be vying for the crown and the ultimate prize of a brand new HVAC system worth up to $20,000. Check out the update bracket below. March Sadness bracket

Team Recaps

Let's not forget how these teams got here, of course. They entered this tournament because their HVAC systems are ready to be replaced. Some of us couldn't care less about basketball, while others root for their alma-mater or the team that will win them money. For these entrants, winning means receiving a brand new HVAC system and finally enjoying home comfort and money-savings.

Team Waiting For The Roof To Cave In from Bensalem has an air conditioner that's around 50 years old. There is so much water erosion that we cannot even service it, making it function even worse. They need to run a shop-vac every day just to drain the water out so that it doesn't build up and ruin the attic. With summer around the corner, this team is in serious need of a new air conditioning system.

Team Waiting For The Roof To Cave In came in third place in their initial Conference Tournament, giving them a No. 8 slot in March Sadness. They have surprised everyone by beating the top teams and making it to the end. READ: Bracketology Report from Conference Tournament 3

Team Love Not War resides in a Philadelphia townhouse and, like many others, has to deal with old window air conditioners. These units provide little to no relief during the humid Philly summers. Plus, they have to be lugged upstairs and are unappealing to look at. This team is ready for some ductless mini-splits to solve their comfort issues before summer rolls around.

Team Love Not War was in second place for most of their initial Conference Tournament, but moved up to first place towards the end, earning themselves a No. 1 seed in the final March Sadness tournament. READ: Bracketology Report from Conference Tournament 1 Window air conditioners in Philadelphia

Tournament Recap

Team Waiting For The Roof To Cave In, represented by UNC, won the first round against No. 9 Marquette, representing Team Nightmare. They moved on to play No. 1 Baylor -- Team Hot And Heavy -- and knocked out the top seed. In the Sweet 16, UNC beat No. 4 UCLA, representing Team Cold Showers. Then, in the Elite 8 Round, they ended the dreams of No. 15 Saint Peter's, representing Team On The Fritz. On Saturday, UNC beat No. 2 Duke in the Final 4 Round, making them the fourth team in the history of March Madness to make it to the Championship as a No. 8 seed.

In 1985, No. 8 Villanova beat No. 1 Georgetown -- the only one of the three No. 8 seeds to win the title. In 2011, No. 8 Butler lost to No. 3 Connecticut. And in 2014, No. 8 Kentucky lost to No 7. Connecticut (the highest seed sum in national championship history). Will UNC win tonight and swing the No. 8 seed title record to 2-2?

Team Love Not War, represented by Kansas, won the first game against Texas Southern, who did not have a corresponding team in our March Sadness tournament. In the Round of 32, Kansas beat No. 9 Creighton, representing Team Ross. They advanced to the Sweet 16 against No. 4 Providence, representing Team Fire Breathing Dragon. In the Elite 8 Round, Kansas beat No. 10 Miami, eliminating Team Up In Smoke. During the Final 4 Round on Saturday, they won against No. 2 Villanova, representing Team Half A Century Old.

Of the 34 national champions since the tournament's expansion in 1985, 20 of them have been No. 1 seeds. In other words, Kansas has pretty good odds to win this game. But, as we've seen throughout this entire tournament, anything can happen. From the first No. 15 seed to ever make it to the Elite 8, to the other three No. 1 seeds being eliminated by the Elite 8, it's not impossible for Kansas to lose tonight. However, as the better team overall, they will likely fight hard for their well-earned title. UNC vs Kansas March Madness
