Bracketology: How the Voting in Conference Tournament 2 Impacts the March Sadness Tournament

It's been about a month since Conference Tournament 2 began, and there are two teams that could take the win in this tournament. With a little over a week left of play, we'll see who wants it bad enough to get more votes and get the win.

Welcome to ECI8's March Sadness Bracketology Report. The competition is in full swing, and teams across every tournament are vying for a top spot in an effort to win a brand new HVAC unit worth up to $20,000.Learn More About  March Sadness
Let's take a look at how the teams in Conference Tournament 2 are doing. You can also watch the video recap from ECI8 below.

Who is the projected #1 or #2 seed from this tournament?

Team Half A Century Old from Philadelphia, Pa. is currently in 1st place with 60.9% of the votes. This boiler is over 50 years old, living in a 100-year-old house. It's as simple as that, folks. It's clear that this team has a supportive fanbase that knows this unit is ready to be replaced.

Vote In Conference Tournament 2

How does the top seed compare to the top seeds in the other tournaments?

Out of the top seeds so far, Team Half A Century Old ranks fourth as far as highest percentage of total votes. To compare, Team Baby Ice has 93.1% of the votes. Team We Need A Break has 82.6% of the tournament votes. Team Up In Smoke has 80.0% of the votes. Team Hot And Heavy has 56.9% of their tournament votes. Team Love Not War has 52.4% of the tournament votes.

However, this does not necessarily mean that the other top teams are doing way better than Team Half A Century Old. Percentage of votes depends on how many fans are actually watching and voting in the tournament. For instance, some teams have a higher percentage, but less total votes. Ultimately, our well-trained Selection Committee will determine seed placements based on multiple factors. While number of votes is the main factor, other team attributes will play a role.

What team has the possibility of improving its ranking?

Team Aged Out And Ready To Go of Wyndmoor, Pa. is in 2nd place with 30.0% of the tournament votes. This team has a 30-year-old furnace that's rusted, stained, and dripping everywhere. It's ready to quit at any point and is in desperate need of a new, efficient replacement. Luckily, this team is not far behind and could easily take the lead with some more votes. It's anyone's game! Of the struggling teams, which loss might be most damaging?

Team Cold Showers of Philadelphia is in 4th place with 5.0% of the votes. As you can tell by their name, not getting the free replacement could really break this team apart. The gauge on their old oil boiler isn't working at all, so they run out of oil (and therefore heat and hot water) without a warning. Plus, there are soot marks everywhere which is just a terrible sign. Not to mention, why does this Philadelphia home have oil heat?! This team needs to get more votes if they want this replacement. You can help them out by voting, too. Replace old Beckett boiler
Finally, there's the local Langhorne, Pa. team Team Hope For Heat in 3rd place with 10.0% of the tournament votes. This furnace doesn't look too bad, but you know what they say: don't judge a book by its cover. This is really one of the worst furnaces you can buy and it's about 25-years-old on top of that. Each day, this team just hopes for the best when it comes to their heater. While they aren't doing the worst in this tournament, they could still really benefit from getting more votes to move up in the rankings.
