Upgrade Your Heating & AC Systems With Oil, Gas, & Electric Rebates

This season, Bucks County and Philadelphia homeowners can stay cozy and turn up the heat without turning up the costs using energy-efficient oil and gas heating systems. Homeowners can also enjoy cool homes with energy-efficient heat pumps and ductless systems. Check out these new rebates and incentives from PGW, NORA, and the IRA that can help alleviate costs when upgrading your HVAC system.

Gas Heat Rebates from PGW EnergySense

Helping customers lower their heating costs just got better! The PGW EnergySense Rebate Program now offers bigger savings to residential and commercial customers who are upgrading natural gas heating and water heating equipment.  According to PGW, "furnace rebates have increased from $350 to $400 and boiler rebates have increased from $900 to $1000." Residential equipment rebates of up to $1,400 per piece of equipment are available for eligible homeowners. Check out the table below from PGW to see specific rebate amounts.PGW Energy Sense HVAC Rebates
With new incentive amounts for 2023, upgrading your heating equipment is easier and more affordable. EnergySense rebates are available through August 31, 2023. Rebates are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date your application is received, and are subject to available funds.

Visit the PGW website to learn more about the program and the new, higher rebates available for all eligible equipment. You can also apply online on their website,

Oil Heat Rebates From NORA

The National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) also has a rebate program that aims to increase consumer efficiency and safety by encouraging the replacement of existing oil heat equipment with modern, efficient oil heat systems.

The current program offers rebates on boiler and furnace replacements, storage tanks, and/or burner controls; but rebates may also extend to water heaters, smart thermostats, and other energy-efficient equipment.

The rebate program is being integrated into a number of states and is highly flexible to both state associations and dealers. According to Fuel Oil News, "the associations currently have a pool of funds to work with that could range from $75,000 to $150,000...Each association determines how much money is in the pot, how much is available for rebates, and then determines which types of equipment they are going to cover."

The new heating units qualify by meeting three conditions:
  • Placed into service after December 31, 2022
  • Meets or exceeds Energy Star 2021 (boilers and furnaces) efficiency criteria
  • Rated by the manufacturer for use with fuel blends at least 20% of the volume of which consists of an eligible fuel (eligible fuel: biodiesel or renewable diesel)
Visit NORA's website to see a list of qualifying boilers and qualifying furnaces. Among them are different Energy Kinetics models, Trane models, Burnham models, and more.

You can also request a rebate for your home's new equipment here. Alternatively, ECI Comfort can help apply and submit the forms for you when purchasing a new system with us.

Electric Heat Rebates From the IRA

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) aims to reduce emissions, invest in climate protection, and offer eligible homeowners money-saving incentives for "greener" home appliances and systems. A main goal of the IRA is to bring energy bill relief to U.S. households by incentivizing the adoption of more efficient, all-electric appliances. According to Mitsubishi Electric's website, "the IRA recognizes the key role of highly efficient, variable-capacity heat pumps in slashing domestic GHG emissions and lowering energy costs for Americans."

The High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Program (HEEHRP), which is part of the IRA, allocates $4.5 billion in grants to states for home energy improvement projects including point-of-sale heat pump rebates. To see a list of qualifying heat pumps from Mitsubishi Electric, click here.
