LIHEAP, which stands for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, helps families living on low incomes pay their heating bills in the form of grants. Within the next few weeks, Pennsylvania is anticipating receipt of additional funding for LIHEAP this season. The additional funding will allow customers to receive more grants towards heating emergencies, such as oil deliveries, if need be.
With the new funds, the 2022-23 LIHEAP Crisis season maximum will be raised from $1,000 to $2,000. Although the increase has not taken place just yet, it's expected to come within a few weeks. Until then, only the season max of $1,000 is available to customers.
Additionally, 2022-23 LIHEAP Cash grant recipients will receive a $150 in-season supplement paid with Extraordinary Cash funds:
- A LIHEAP household will receive only ONE supplement
- Supplements may be used towards an outstanding bill that you may have incurred with your heating oil supplier since October 1, 2022, or for a future delivery made anytime through June 30, 2024.
- These in-season $150 supplements will be issued in several batches:
