Mitsubishi SEZ Horizontal-Ducted Unit: Features & Benefits

When installing a Mitsubishi Electric system in your home, you can choose from a range of indoor units that are best for your heating and cooling needs. This wide array of options lets you choose the units that fit the home's aesthetic, size, and purpose of each space.

Options range from ductless wall-mounted units, ductless ceiling-mounted units, ductless floor-mounted units, horizontal ducted units, and ducted air handlers. The versatility of Mitsubishi systems make them great for any application. In this article, we will focus on the Mitsubishi SEZ Horizontal Ducted unit.Mitsubishi SEZ Horizontal Ducted Air Handler

Features and Benefits of the Mitsubishi SEZ

The horizontal-ducted indoor SEZ unit is designed to heat/cool rooms through a short duct run. The SEZ is a low-static unit, meaning it operates at a sound level no higher than 34 dB(A), contributing very little noise to the room. This model produces a noise level as low as 23 dB(A), which is equivalent to a whisper. The SEZ series may be mounted in the attic, hidden in the ceiling or beneath the floor, or concealed behind a wall.

Zoning options

Whether you need to create comfort in one room or multiple areas, the SEZ can work for your home. One outdoor unit can connect up to eight indoor units to make each room in your home as comfortable as the last.

3D i-See Sensor

This unit comes equipped with Mitsubishi's 3D i-See Sensor® technology. The sensor scans each space "to produce a complete thermal profile that includes heat signatures based upon size, temperature, and movement." It consistently analyzes the room in hundreds of zones to detect hot and cold spots and learn where to send air toward or away from. It can even sense when a room is occupied versus empty. This is just one of the many ways a Mitsubishi system will provide you with precise temperature control and comfort.

Indoor air quality

The SEZ horizontal-ducted unit also works to improve your home's indoor air quality. Its Nano Platinum Filter uses nanometer-sized platinum ceramic particles to kill bacteria and deodorize air. This unit is great for homeowners who want the highest possible level of filtration performance, as these filters provide accelerated absorption at the molecular level.

In addition, there is the Electrostatic Anti-Allergy Enzyme Filter. Charged with static electricity, this filter attracts and captures dust particles, mold, and bacteria and breaks them down with enzymes. This is ideal for homeowners who struggle with allergies.

Efficiency

Mitsubishi systems are created with INVERTER technology which eliminates the wasteful energy associated with traditional systems. Instead of the classic start and stop cycle, these systems constantly run using only the precise amount of energy needed to keep your home comfortable. This means your desired temperature will always be reached more quickly.

Not only does this save energy and money, but it also makes for a quieter system and more enjoyable temperatures. You can compare non-inverter versus inverter systems to a car driving through the city - constantly stopping and starting - versus a car driving on cruise control. The SEZ's extreme efficiency gives it a SEER rating up to 22.0 and HSPF up to 13.1. SEER is the rating of a unit’s cooling output during a typical cooling-season
divided by the total electric energy input during the same period. ENERGY STAR qualified air conditioners must have a SEER rating of 14.5 or higher. HSPF is a ratio of BTU heat output over the heating season to watt-hours of electricity used. In both cases, the higher the better.

Comfortable adjustments

The option for Swing Mode means the unit can move air throughout the room like an oscillating fan. Plus, Econo Cool technology adjusts the amount of air directed towards people in the room based on the air-outlet temperature. These features ensure comfortability and even temperatures across the room.

Additionally, you can opt for Powerful Mode, which temporarily drops or raises the set temperature for 15 minutes so that automatic fan speed adjustments made possible by the INVERTER will more quickly bring your room to your desired temperature.
