What is a Healthy Air System?
The Aprilaire Healthy Air System is an air purifying and cleaning system that is installed directly into your existing HVAC system inside the home. This Healthy Air System provides protection against many airborne contaminants such as viruses, allergens, mold spores, bacteria, dust, and more. In order to provide your home with clean air, the Aprilaire Healthy Air System works in three parts: fresh air ventilation, air filtration, and humidity control.
Ahhhh, fresh air
The Aprilaire Healthy Air System provides fresh air ventilation throughout your home. Imagine your HVAC system as if it is breathing. It breathes in fresh outdoor air and then exhales dry, polluted indoor air. The Healthy Air System dilutes the indoor air and removes contaminants, allowing you and your family to breathe clean air at home.
Air filtration - using the best air filter
Proper air filters paired with an air purification system that provides a solution to your entire home can capture almost all of the airborne particles, reducing virus-sized particles and other even smaller contaminants from occupying your indoor air. These filters are easy to clean and are pet friendly too. Additionally, this system uses 13-16 MERV filters. A MERV rating, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, describes the size of particles a filter is designed to catch. For perspective, a MERV rating of around 5 to 8 is suggested for residential homes. Aprilaire Healthy Air System provides this entire home air purification system that emphasizes the production of healthy air.
Humidity control - keep away mold
Often forgotten -- but of great importance in clean home air -- is humidity control. The Healthy Air System provides humidification and dehumidification for your entire home. It is recommended to keep humidity close to 50% in order to combat virus growth, mold, and wood damage. Different areas of the country require different humidity needs, and the Aprilaire Healthy Air System can be designed to match whatever your climate may be.
