Think Outside the Box

ECI TAKES HOME COMFORT TO THE NEXT LEVEL:

Heating and air conditioning equipment is always evolving and becoming more efficient.  The problem is that most HVAC contractors are stuck doing business as usual.  A widely used term in our industry is to "replace the box".  A contractor will get a call for a heating or cooling related problem and see the opportunity to sell new equipment or "replace the box".  In some cases upgrading the equipment may be the solution but all too often the home itself can be the source of the problem.

Many homeowners learn to live with hot or cold rooms, dusty furniture and high utility bills.  ECI has made it a priority to solve these issues by looking at the home and ductwork as well as the equipment.  In a lot of cases, a system cannot run at its full potential when a home is not properly air sealed and insulated.

A Father Passes Along His Passion for Work

As a young apprentice to his father Bill, AJ Eberhardt is the modern day example of a Master Craftsman passing the torch to his son.

Once a common practice, it’s sadly a vanishing tradition. From the time he was a young boy, AJ loved working alongside his father. It seemed only natural that when he became old enough, he would help his Dad during the summer’s installing Central Air systems at ECI Comfort, where his father worked since before he was born. When AJ turned seventeen, he picked up another of his father’s passions, firefighting, and joined the volunteers of the Croydon Fire house.

Should you have your air conditioning system checked?

I often get asked how important it is to have a central air conditioning system cleaned and checked regularly, and is it really needed, so I thought I would share a story from earlier this week.

What the Window Companies don't want you to know

Windows are a very important part of our lives - they allow us to see what is going on in the world, they let in sunshine, and they light our houses so we don’t have to use electricity during the day. We need windows.

But they are a mixed blessing. They have very low insulation values so they cost us a lot more than a plain wall would cost to heat and cool. Also, this low R-value means the surface is cold so we can feel cool standing next to them, and they have a lot of moving parts, which means they can leak air.

HVAC Jamaican Style

I just recently had the opportunity to go on vacation to Jamaica. It is hard to totally separate yourself on vacation from what you do everyday back home. For me, that is selling HVAC equipment.

I couldn’t help but notice that there were very few buildings that have central air conditioning systems where duct work is used to deliver conditioned air from a central air handler.

New Financing and Rebates For Upgrading Your Heating And Air Conditioning System

Upgrading your heating and air conditioning equipment is never more affordable. Homeowners in Southeastern Pennsylvania, which includes Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties, can upgrade their heaters and air conditioners with new high efficiency equipment. Financing Rates of .99, 4.99 and 5.99 percent are available for terms up to 10 years to help make high efficiency equipment affordable to almost all homeowners. For example, for a 10 year $10,000.00 loan, the monthly payment is less than 100.00 per month. This payment is largely offset by utility savings incurred with the newer high efficiency equipment.

The High Cost of Leaky Duct Work

According to studies, leaky duct work increases total cooling and heating energy usage by as much as 30%. That’s 30 cents out of every $1 you pay in energy bills. Over the course of a year, this can add up to hundreds of wasted dollars.

Mastronardo Case Study Sneek Peek

HVAC Installation in Stone Homes, Water Heater Repair - Mt. Airy, Philadelphia from ECI Comfort on Vimeo.

Coming soon to the Case Studies section of our Web Site! John Mastronardo

Overview:

About five years ago, John Mastronardo purchased a beautiful, old, stone home in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia. With only window air-conditioning units and radiators on each floor, John realized right away that the house needed a whole new HVAC system. Luckily, one of John’s neighbors was all too happy to show him the system they had installed and enthusiastically referred him to ECI Comfort. Five years later, John used ECI’s services once again to replace a water heater and sat down with Ron to discuss the work that has been done in his home.
